The Teresian Junior School: A Commitment to Excellence
At the core of The Teresian Junior School, we strive to provide an exceptional education. Our dedicated team of highly qualified teachers foster a stimulating and engaging learning environment that inspires our students.
We employ innovative teaching methods to cultivate enthusiastic and motivated learners who are eager to excel. Our challenging curriculum caters to the needs of every child, celebrating academic achievements and nurturing individual talents from a young age.
We believe in the power of partnership between home and school. By working together, we can create a warm and inclusive community that prioritises learning and supports the holistic development of each child.
To enhance our curriculum, we offer specialist teaching in six areas, integrated into our school day. This specialised teaching is incorporated into our school fees.

Violin
Kinder B to Class 5 students enjoy weekly violin lessons with our talented teacher, Cáit Fleming. Students learn the foundational skills of violin playing, including proper posture, bowing techniques, and note reading. As they progress, they will play a variety of pieces, increasing in difficulty. These lessons are integrated into the school day and are included in the school fees.
-
Physical Education
Physical Education (PE) provides children with opportunities to learn and develop through movement. Our aim is to support children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. Our specialist PE teacher leads two dedicated lessons per week, exploring a variety of activities, including dance, athletics, gymnastics, games, and outdoor pursuits.
-
Spanish
Kinder A to Class 6 students enjoy Spanish lessons with a native speaker. Our communicative approach prioritises speaking and listening skills. Classes are conducted in a relaxed, encouraging atmosphere, utilising interactive resources like videos, songs, and quizzes. To enhance fluency and oral skills, we incorporate a variety of activities, including role-plays, drama, singing, dancing, art, craft, and games.
-
Drama
Drama thrives at The Teresian Junior School. Students of all ages are encouraged to explore their creativity through a variety of performances, from class assemblies to major productions. Our specialist Drama teacher leads weekly classes, using drama to explore stories, characters, and emotions in a safe and imaginative way. Every year, all pupils participate in a school-wide drama production.
-
Music/Singing
Our specialist music teacher fosters a love of music in every child. Weekly music lessons expose children to a wide range of musical experiences, from listening to music to playing instruments. Early years students begin their musical journey, while older students participate in musical events and competitions. The school choir provides opportunities for collaboration and performance. Throughout the year, students enjoy both performing and attending musical events.

Library
Our beautiful School Library is a popular destination for all students. Weekly class visits, guest authors, and story time fill the library with activity. With a vast selection of books, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, graphic novels, and audio books, there's something for everyone. Our dedicated Librarian, Brian Hegarty, ensures the library is well-stocked with the latest titles. Our librarian ensure students are accessing appropriate texts through Accelerated Reader, a reading comprehension programme.
Learning Support
All our students have a right to an education which is appropriate to them as individuals. We want all our students to feel that they are a valued part of our school community. As far as possible therefore, it is our aim to minimise the difficulties that students may experience. We aim to achieve this by developing a more inclusive curriculum by;
enabling students to participate in the curriculum and school activities at their level;
developing positive self-esteem and positive attitudes about school and learning in all students;
enabling students to monitor their own learning and become independent learners;
involving parents/guardians in supporting their children;
providing supplementary teaching, additional support, extension activities and resources for students in literacy and/or numeracy;
and monitoring our effectiveness in achieving the above aims.
