Active School Week (from home!) 2020

This year our PE teachers had to be a bit more creative for Active School Week than in previous years, well, for obvious reasons.

And did they ever deliver! Sandra Pye and Vivienne Naughton somehow managed to get the whole school dancing, walking, running … and throwing toilet paper – separately, but 100% together.

Through Zoom (what would we do without it?!?), our girls got moving to Just Dance over a number of sessions in the week. What better way to be active? The result was brilliant.

We hosted a Kahoot quiz for all students to participate, all on the topic of sports and activities. Our girls really know their sport!

The results from the ASW Kahoot! Quiz:

5th Place – Siobhan O’Riordan – 6th Year – 17512pts

4th Place – Flynn Carter – 3rd Year – 17696pts

3rd Place – Dorothy Miller-Carney – 3rd Year – 18158pts

2nd Place – Ella McGrath – 6th Year – 19340pts

1st Place – The Holmes’ – 1st & 6th Year – 23057pts

We had 64 devices logged into Kahoot! Some of them doubled and tripled up with siblings. Well done to everyone who took part, and congratulations to our top placers!

The whole school was challenged to walk or run the distance of the Teresian School to Killarney, and take in some of the sights along the way (all within a 2km radius!)

Congratulation to all students and staff who got involved!
3rd Place – 3S with 146km
2nd Place – 1S with 155.85km
1st Place – 3V – 249.11km.
Some statistics
1st Year – 208.58km – as a group you managed to walk just outside Dungarvan
3rd Year – 349.57km – as a group you managed to walk over 20km past Clonakilty.
5th Year – 169.05km – as a group you managed to walk 50km past Enniscorthy
As a school community we walked over 980km. Well done, everyone!
We received some lovely photos of walks along the way:
Lots more photos here!
And all work and no play make your teachers… well, no need to finish that!
So the Secondary School teachers and staff had their own quiz, with some impressive contenders in the mix. We also practiced our throwing to keep things interesting (inspired by our 6th year ladies!)
HUGE THANKS to Sandra and Vivienne for organising such a fantastic Active Schools Week and thanks to everyone who took part!
