Easter Celebrations

Mandatum novum, the ‘New Deal’

A new command I give you, says Jesus: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

On Monday 8th April, in the week just before Holy Week, the Secondary School community had the chance to prepare for the Easter celebrations. During the school Assembly, Fr Vincent gave a talk inspired by the painting of the Last Supper. He strongly emphasised that individual confession is like talking to a friend and asking for forgiveness. The Sacrament of Penance precisely reminds us of the very core of our Christian calling, the love of God and the love of one another.  Four priests, Fr Vincent O’Hara (Avila Center), Fr Felix Okolo (Avila Center), Fr. Peter O’Connor (Beechwood Parish) and Fr Liam Dunne (Society of the Divine Word) kindly came for individual confessions.

The ‘new deal’ founded on love and forgiveness is our guide in the path to Easter joy.
